Lions and Tigers and Bears...OH MY!

Last weekend we ventured up to the Como Zoo & Conservatory with the grandparents Grimmius, Uncle Will, and (we'll call her "Auntie"...she's close enough) Ann. The weather was perfect, the company was lovely, and the cookies after lunch were scrumptious. Oh, and the animals and plants were pretty neat, too :)
Here's a photographic review of the day:
We started the visit with a picnic. Always smart to fill a baby's belly (and mine, too) before starting any major activity such as touring a zoo. Here, Miles plays nicely while the adults get lunch ready.

One of the first stops at the zoo was the aquatics area. We missed the zookeepers' synchonized swimming show by a matter of minutes...bummer! But fortunately the fish were still around for Miles to see. He was fascinated by them.

We also ran into an old relative. He and Miles got along great!

The Conservatory was in full bloom (as usual) and beautiful (as usual). We paused for a few minutes in front of a pond to watch some fish, look at the plants, and take a few pictures.

Grandpa Dave is so funny! He must have been telling jokes about Sparky the Sea Lion.

All of the excitement caught up to Miles as we headed home. What a fun day!

Today we're off to another zoo with the Grandparents Potts, as well as Great-Grandpa C. Reps. Which zoo, you ask? Stay tuned!

Crawling Machine

Watch out world...here comes Miles!

Are you kidding?

Miles gets the backseat on the blog today. I came across these stories from the Mankato Free Press and felt they were worthy of a post. Actually, story #1 was going to be the lone topic of conversation on the O-town blog today until I came across story #2. How could I leave that one out? Honestly.

MANKATO — Either this kid’s lying or that girl gives one intoxicating smooch.

As Mankato police patrolled the Minnesota State University campus area for underage drinking, they came across 18-year-old James Carroll. After observing him, they administered a preliminary breath test. Carroll scored a .063.

Carroll’s excuse?

"I just made out with a drunk girl," he told police.
Romantic intentions aside, Carroll was cited for underage consumption.
(For comparison, the legal limit for driving a vehicle is .08.)

MANKATO — Under the category “creative uses of free time,” comes the story of 23-year-old man discovered near a Mankato restaurant Tuesday morning.

It was just about 5 a.m. when police received a call about a man exposing himself behind the Happy Chef restaurant in Mankato.

They arrived to find the man, in the buff, shivering. He told police he was waiting for the 7 p.m. bus.

He reportedly told police, “That’s why I’m doing what I’m doing. Just killing time.”

Are you kidding me?
