Miles had his 9 month well-child checkup on Tuesday, which happened to be his 10 month birthday. Better late than never, right?! He continues to be an overachiever in the weight and height department...further proof that he is our child.
Here are the stats, with (in parenthesis) a description of his growth in the last 4 months:
Weight = 26 lbs 4 oz (97th percentile, gain of 5 lbs 12 oz, and 4 lbs heavier than his 15 month old cousin Hannah)
Height = 30.5 inches (95th percentile and gain of 3 inches)
Head Circumference = 19 inches (97th percentile and gain of 1 1/4 inch...as well as 17 percentage points)
Depth of Chin Dimple = .16 cm (67th percentile and .06 cm deeper)
Shots = 3 misc. + 1 oral Rotovirus vaccine
I'm pretty sure he wasn't supposed to get any more vaccines until his 12 month appointment. In fact, I know that's the case. Poor Miles. The error is a bit disturbing, but he's fine and is one step ahead of the vaccine schedule now (sort of).
So that's the scoop! Miles is a happy, healthy boy and continues to teach his old parents new tricks. Although today WE taught HIM a new one: kisses! His technique could use some fine-tuning, but we'll take 'em -- no matter how sloppy or open mouthed they come :)
One benefit of taking him in a month late for his checkup is that I can post this picture of him, which wouldn't have been possible a month ago because he wasn't capable of doing this at 9 months of age. See?! It's all good.
(Watching his daddy mow the lawn)
He also was not given a fat apple slice to suck on when he was 9 months old. But now that he's 10 months, he gets all the fat apple slices he could ever want. Did you know that 10 months is the magic fat apple slice age? Well...it is! His 3 teeth don't exactly provide much support in the biting/chewing department, but the apple still makes for a delicious sticky treat. MMMM!
(Charlie: Miles is a Paula Red fan like his mommy. Pick some up at Jim's for us, would ya?)

How fun to learn Miles' vital statistics as a 10 month-old! What's the magical difference between 9 and 10 months for getting apple chunks?? Miley looks like an expert apple guy!
The magical difference is that mommy thought of the apple chunk idea when he was 10 months :)
Good growing, Miles. I can't figure out how you look so slim and trim. We're the same height, I'm 4# lighter, and my belly is easily twice the size of yours! :-0
I love apples, too! Yum! Can't wait to share one with you.
