The Preschooler

Miles is officially a preschooler now! He joined new teachers and friends in the Preschool C room at daycare. He's been allotted 2 weeks to transition to the new room, but Mr. Social apparently only needed one day. There's a lot to learn about life as a preschooler yet, but he'll catch on... Although 2 1/2 years seems like a young age to be starting preschool, we believe this is going to be a very good change of pace for him. He's been the oldest kiddo in the toddler room for several months now, and it's clear he's ready to be tossed in with some older children.

We celebrated his exciting day with a special dessert (apple/fruit crisp - yum!) and he was quite chatty about his new experiences. I decided to get out the camera and record some of it...but as you can see, I was a little late to the game. Maybe interviewing skills and a longer attention span are something they'll work on in the coming year with him?! We can only hope.

Getting stuff done

I'm happy to report that we've been getting stuff done around the house lately. None of it is really related to the baby, however...which, come October, could be a problem. This past weekend we bought furniture for the basement living room. Just a couch and chair, but it's a start! This coming weekend we'll be graced with the presence of a new tv on a wall in the basement (thankyousupergoodsaleatBestBuy). Speakers too. Wooot woooooot!

Tanner also made some progress on our backyard landscaping project. He invited Grandpa Dave over to help, and thank goodness he accepted! Tanner prepped the area around the deck a few days ago (i.e. tore up sod, which apparently is harder than it looks. I wouldn't know.) and then Grandpa Dave came to help spread out the rock and such. It looks great!
Although the garden hoses add a nice green touch, we do plan to get some shrubs in place before summer ends. In the mean time, we are going to be buying a new vehicle. We know what it is, but I'm not going to tell you quite yet. Stay tuned!
I guess this whopper of a purchase really is related to the baby. We need to haul our litter of kids around somehow... Although I don't think we'll be venturing very far - our bank account will keep us close to home for a while :) But we do welcome visitors, so stop by any time!

A splashin' good time!

We're back to our normal routine (that doesn't include much blogging...) after a nice mini-vacation to Wisconsin. Thanks to Grandpa Dave and Grandma Doreen, we spent a couple of days splashing around at the Wilderness Resort in WI Dells. We stayed in a comfortable condo right across from the Lost World Adventure water park (click on the link and you'll see the building right behind the water fun). Here's proof that it was a blast --If you're ever in the Dells, we recommend stopping for pizza at Moose Jaw. Mmmmm! Miles also sampled their chalk (they give kids chalk/chalkboards while waiting for the food), but only the pizza got a star rating.
After ending our stay in the Dells with a duck boat tour, we continued on to Green Bay to visit Great Grandma Lucille.
We spent the 4th of July on the bay with various Packer-backing relatives and enjoyed the visit very much. Tanner got to re-live some of his favorite childhood memories with a spin on the jet ski. Miles was more interested in cheering from the dock... Go daddy, go!!
