Weston can now claim all of Miles' old bikes, which includes a couple of trikes, hot wheels, and a 12 inch bike (he's still too much of a shrimp for that one, but I have a feeling it won't be long before he jumps on and takes off!). In the mean time, he's satisfied being the crossing guard. But cross at your own risk :)

New wheels!
Miles got a new bike today! He was torn between this one, an orange bike, and a blue bike. We agreed with his pick - it's pretty cool!
And this picture has nothing to do with the new bike, but it's cute. Weston totally crashed the party. The bigger boys did their best to keep the game going but eventually the littlest dude won... Grandma Jill hit the nail on the head when she dubbed him Westy the Windstorm. That was a good 6 months ago and he still lives up to the name. I'm certain it will follow him well into adulthood :)

A lovely Sunday
We're still coming off the high that Minnesotans experience when - for more than just one day -temperatures are in the mid 70s, there's no rain (or snow), the grass is green and flowers are blooming. It made for an especially enjoyable Mothers Day, as we were able to be outside a lot doing whatever we pleased. The boys were (mostly) cooperative and happy, which was just icing on the delicious cake!
After picking Honey Buzzers over monkey bread for breakfast (who does that?), we loaded up the van and went to Oxbow Park / Zollman Zoo. I've blogged about trips there before - it's one of our favorite places because it's just the right size for young kiddos to run free, giggle over a variety of animals, have a picnic, and not end with a long car ride back home during which everyone is hot and tired. Perfecto!
The day was begging for a picnic and so were our growling tummies. Surprisingly we all sat nicely on the blanket and ate the entire lunch! Did someone pay my children (and husband?!) to act this way?

This is pretty much how our family toured the zoo (Miles is way ahead of Tanner and Westy is trailing behind...kind of wandering aimlessly...) -
But sometimes Westy found the gumption (and focus) to zoom ahead. Watch out!
The bison were the most entertaining of all the animals, which is odd because usually they are the most boring. Nothing against those critters....it's just that they usually sleep in a far corner where we can barely see them. Not on Sunday! Most were right up next to the fence, and this guy put on a show as he rolled around in the dirt and snorted. Yikes!
Weston thought if he told everyone to be quiet, maybe the bison would go to sleep. Unfortunately this plan failed miserably. But it was cute anyway.
His next mission (that also failed) was to feed the goats. He earned an A+ for effort.
And then Miles stood next to the cow/horse pen cleaning station and pretended to be an employee, to which Weston grew very angry. Very, very angry. He wanted access to the brooms and shovels.
This photo is rather creative, no?! There's a big swing off in the distance and in a perfect world, the auto setting on the camera would have taken a picture of our family sitting on it. I was trying to figure out the angle here...a grass-eye view more than anything, but fun in the I-wish-I-was-a-decent-photographer sort of way.
After multiple attempts at the family photo a very nice woman (who had probably been watching and laughing the whole time) came over and took this one for us -
Then it was time to do the chicken dance over to our picnic spot!

Maybe it was the pudding. Yep...definitely the pudding :)
And what better way to end the day than with more sugar?? I made a rhubarb/raspberry/blueberry crisp for dessert, which Miles dubbed "rhurazblue cake". Eating it on the front steps really enhanced the flavor!
Here's to hoping for another gorgeous weekend! We have some special visitors coming from NC and it sure would be nice to show them a good time outside....and perhaps have some kids (whose names shall go unmentioned) run laps around the house or something. Ha!

For Rent
Okay, we've changed our minds. Weston is no longer up for sale. Just for rent. He's available in 1-2 night increments - price drops if big brother is along. Sounds backwards, but it's not. Trust us.
We did receive several offers, so thank you to all of the bidders! It's nice to know that little guy is so dearly loved. Quite honestly, Weston is just too stinking cute to sell. We'd miss him. Even in the midst of a power tantrum....he's cute. In the middle of the night when he's angry and disoriented and nothing will satisfy him...he's cute. When he fills his diaper and then runs to a back corner of the house to hide (leaving a trail of stink behind him)...he's cute. When he partially chews his food and then spits it out on the floor for us to find hours later...he's cute. As he stands at the top of the stairs with a twinkle in his eye, pretends he's going to step downward, then laughs hysterically as mama or daddy starts to panic...he's cute. And seeing him mimic every last thing his big brother does (EVERY. LAST. THING.)...well, that just makes our hearts melt.
Weston passed his 18 month checkup with flying colors on Monday. His doctor told us this kid might end up surprising us - Weston may very well end up being our mellow child that follows the rules. Ha ha...that's funny! I told Dr. Bunkers to be sure that gets documented in Weston's chart so 16 years from now we can look back and laugh over just how wrong he was with that prediction. I should have bet something on it, like a free flu shot or a year supply of band-aids.
Anyway, the little blonde monkey stands 34 inches tall (91st %ile) and weighs just over 26 pounds (64th %ile). I didn't catch his head circumference because there was a lot of drama involved (he totally spazzed a the nurse as she attempted to measure his noggin). By comparison, his "older" cousin Vivian is 24 pounds and 31 inches. Just a couple of munchkins!
Here's to you, Westy! We love you and will keep you forever and ever and ever. Promise.
