NWA Wimps

The trip to NC was fantastic! I want to go back...time for baby to join this world! Here is a recap of the key events from the weekend:

Friday: We awoke early (or not) for a long walk in the cool but humid Chapel Hill community. After re-fueling with a delicious bagel sandwich brunch, we got to work assembling various baby things (see previous blog photo). What fun! When that excitement was over, Elisabeth (ESPD) and I dropped Evan (ESD) off at work and then made our way to Dream Dinners. Mom and dad sent them a gift card for the place several months ago, and only half of it was used during round 1 at Dream Dinners last fall. So we made three yummy-looking meals and then proceeded on our merry way to....get pedicures! Aaaah, it was a great treat. We ended the afternoon with a little shopping (although we didn't spend nearly enough money).

Saturday: Some of ESD's friends from school threw a baby shower for him (and ESPD, of course) and one other preggo classmate. It was a lot of fun - and included a great spread of food made by a big dude named Falcon. He makes a mean mac&cheese dish. When we left the shower, it was pouring rain and thundering (or "bundering", according to an adoreable 2 year old named Conner who provided entertainment all afternoon). What else is there to do in rainy weather than shop at Target?! That's exactly what we did, and that's exactly the cause of the clusterf&*^ of baby stuff discussed in the last blog! It was fun going through the new baby things with E&E, helping sort out what is needed NOW and what can wait, what should be washed before baby comes home and what can wait, etc. They've got one lucky baby headed their way!

Sunday: My final day :( We ate some good food at a restaurant near Elmo's, but it wasn't Elmo's because Elmo's had a long wait and we were H.U.N.G.R.Y. Then we spent some money at Southern Season (happy Bday mom!) and returned home....only to watch Evan take part in the most painful smoke-detector-battery-changing situation I've ever witnessed. Let's just say they have a smoke detector in their attic, which can only be accessed via a small square in the ceiling of a small closet (that contains a large shelf that further limits access to said small square) in their office room. A rocket scientist definitely did not design their house. I felt bad for Evan and hope for his sake that they move within the next three years before that stinking batter needs to be changed again.
I miss you, E&E! Thanks for such a fun weekend - I can't wait to visit again and snuggle that sweet new baby of yours.
P.S. When I returned to Mpls, this bright orange tag was attached to the handle of my suitcase:

Hence the title of this post - NWA wimps.

And how about the news Charlie alluded to in his blog, Miss Annie? No secrets anymore, kid. It's a wired world.
