Tantrum sandwich

Weston is our tantrum king. He knows how to throw a good one, usually just before bed time when nothing in his sweet little life seems to be going right. The 15 minute stretch just before bed is really the only period of time in which he is desperate...DESPERATE...for his dooza. Unfortunately he is also in his 5th week of battling an ear infection (the only ear infection so far in life, go figure). So we started antibiotic #3 today and if this one doesn't do the trick, we'll have to consider putting a tube in his left ear to get the sucker to drain. That would be a very big bummer. Let's hope this medicine works!

Miles and I went to the pharmacy to pick up the meds and it turned in to a 90 minute trip. Groan. I'll avoid sharing the details with you at this time. Just look up the word ridiculous in the dictionary and you'll probably read about our experience.

Anyway, shortly after we left Weston threw the biggest and greatest and awesomest tantrum to date. Tanner caught it on video and I had to pick my jaw up off the floor after watching it. And he's my own son! And I have witnessed (and thrown) many tantrums in my day! He's just a spaz machine. Posting the video on the blog would not be a good motherly move, but if you want to watch it...I'll gladly send you the link to youtube :)

Since Weston isn't as verbally advanced as a 4 year old (who ALWAYS uses his words to express how he feels. Ahem.) we can only assume the tantrum was brought on by a few things -
1. He caught a glimpse of a dooza hidden in a drawer in the kitchen. Ruh roh.
2. It was 6:33pm and he was closing in on bed time. Ruh roh.
3. Miles and I left him at home while we went to party at the pharmacy. Ruh roh.
4. He doesn't show "classic" ear infection symptoms, but I have to believe his ear is in at least a little bit of pain. Ruh roh.

The perfect storm!

Anyway, we sandwich these tantrums between big slices of fun. Here's evidence:

Uncle Don came to visit.

He really did!

And Ava has been around a lot more often.

Dani too.
On chilly days we just hang out inside...
And show off some royal cuteness.

Let's hope Weston gets healthy and that the antibiotic treats his raging temper, too. I'm afraid he's more like his mother when it comes to personality, though. That means the tantrums are going to be around for a reallllly long time yet :)

Oh, Westy! I watched the tantrum video. Makes me sad to see him so upset, although at times I thought he was acting. And doing a good job of it!

Westy, I'm so sorry to hear that you have an ear infection. I hope your new meds work and that your urge to have a tantrum will subside. (If I had an ear infection, I'd probably feel like having a good tantrum, too!)
